Gracious and Holy God,
you give us what we need.
When the people howled,
you provided manna in the wilderness,
enough for everyone.
You promise that even the least little bit of faith,
tiny as a mustard seed,
will empower us to move mountains.
When we wonder how to sing your song
in a world where we sometimes feel like exiles,
you provide the music.
You give us what we need.
Be in the broken bread, your love breaking through our stubbornness, our discouragement and our certainty that all is hopeless. Be in the outpoured cup, your grace and mercy overflowing the limits of our realism, our practicality, even our cynicism.
Grant us the courage to be prophetic where it’s needed and the patience to be pastoral where that is the better choice.
You will give us what we need, because you know exactly what is enough. Help us to see the results with your eyes. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
