Friday Five

Friday Five: Taking a Break

As posted by yours truly at RevGalBlogPals:

Where we live, it's February School Vacation Week!

Yes, that's an odd thing, a vacation extending President's Day. But it's part of our lives here.

Some people go South or go skiing, but we always stay home and find more humble amusements.

In that spirit, I offer this Taking a Break Friday Five. Tell us how you would spend:

Coffee-cup-cupper
1. a 15 minute break
— The coffee cup tells you everything. Whether I'm making it or seeking it, a break equals coffee.

2. an afternoon off
— If I have an afternoon with no commitments, I am most likely to read and/or knit, though every now and then I might go to the movies with Pure Luck or Light Princess.

3. an unexpected free day
— Get out of town! Head for the woods or the hills with Pure Luck and Sam! (Kids, too, if they like.)

Hawaii_1
Newzealand
4. a week's vacation
— If I had a week off now, I would be a heat-seeking vacationer. If I could go somewhere I've never been before, I would love to visit New Zealand or Hawaii.

5. a sabbatical — If I had a supported period of time off, I would work on a book. And if I could do it anywhere, I would go to England.

You don't have to be a RevGal to play; how would you take a break?

  1. Hello Songbird, I wouldn’t mind heading for the woods with you…we only have hills here – no woods. Thank you so much for stopping over at my blog!

  2. I don’t mind the cold (makes the coffee that much sweeter!), but neither do I mind time in warmer climes–just keep the humidity at bay! And New Zealand is on my list as well. England’s not bad, either!

  3. Songbird,
This was a good FF. But most of us know that much of this is wistful thinking. The week be for Lent????

  4. yup. i can see it now… elizabeth george will have nothing on songbird by the time your novels of a theological and oh so reflective nature hit the shelves… starring a female clergy gal of course… fighting evil. conquering the world. sipping her coffee on her breaks… yup. gonna read every word.

  5. These sound like wonderful breaks. Me, I like Teh Coffee also, beaucoup de coffee.
And New Zealand DOES sound wonderful.

  6. Yes, yes, YES. COME TO ENGLAND.
Just make sure it’s not when I’m on my fantasy sabbatical in India, OK?
    Miss you xx

  7. Thanks for this FF. I was so afraid it was going to be about getting ready for Lent, which I haven’t done yet. And then I got a genealogy commission so I am not completely unemployed now!

  8. Hey, it’s not Lent *yet* and I definitely didn’t want to go there ahead of time. We’ll have weeks and weeks of it.

  9. yes, I would love to go to Hawaii, too. Great play. You and my husband can have umpteen coffee breaks together 🙂

  10. Oh sweet break… that was a great Friday 5. It’s got me dreaming about a sabbatical to come, that’s for sure!

  11. Thanks for a great FF…there is something special about “getting away” even if only for an afternoon.

  12. 1. iPod break.
    2. nap on the couch.
    3. trip to the museum.
    4. Greece.
    5. cabin in woods, near a city, writing/napping.
    (note napping theme…)

  13. i would like to travel to Maine on a sabbatical, and drink coffee.
    A “heat-seeking vacationer”! So true!
