Of Paws and Toes and Aunts and Trees

Gulf Coast 012Church behind me, I now consider myself to be completely on vacation, and to celebrate, St. Casserole and I had a pedicure today. Here we are in her backyard, showing off our colors. Can you guess our OPI colors? Prizes, prizes!

Things look better here. I took some pictures today around the near area and we'll stray farther afield tomorrow. We hope to visit with a young RevGal who is volunteering in one of the very hard-hit areas (not her first trip, either).

I'm happy to say that St. Casserole's dear Aunt Bostick, with some technical support, has started her own blog. I hope you'll be kind enough to pay her a visit.

It has been my pleasure today to pet Sister, Whistle, Fish, Dubby and even the somewhat elusive Andy, the Homeland Security Cat.

And lastly, for the moment at least, I want to share a happy picture with you. One of the first descriptions I remember of St. Casserole's home referred to living "in the Pine Grove." I never saw those trees. Hurricane Katrina took them away.

But today, I discovered new life.

Gulf Coast 014

I called across the yard to St. Casserole, "Did you plant new pines?"

She shook her head. "That's what nature is doing."

  1. I am excited about Auntie getting her own blog — I knew she would need a little help getting started on one and that you two could get it started.
As for the toes.. well, those OPI colors I am not very familiar. I do know I picked out lavendar last time, but it is not lavendar at all, but a nice peachy pink.

  2. Nature is amazing in its ongoing ability to re-create! Hope you continue to enjoy your time…glad to know that there are signs of new life everywhere….
oh, and I wear OPI but no guesses on the color – over-tired brain, am I.

  3. I *think* the toes on the left are “I’m Not Really A Waitress,” and the toes on the right are “Cajun Shrimp.” Am I right?
I’m so glad you’re having fun.

  4. I think the one on the left is either “I’m Not Really a Waitress” or “Twenty-One Candles on My Cake”. On the right, hmm…possibly “Sonora Sunset”…it’s too pinky to be “Mother Road Rose”…OK, I see we have two votes for “I’m Not Really a Waitress”.
I love the pine trees. Glad y’all are resting and playing.

  5. Lovely toesies!!
Please give that Young RevGal a huge hug for me and my mama. We love that sweetie pie and her family to pieces!!

  6. I’m Not Really a Waitress? Bogata Berry?
I love the names of OPI colors.
And y’all have lovely toenails. 🙂

  7. The lil pine tree is so proud to be blogged!
It was warm enough to walk outside barefoot. Today, it’s chilly again.
Getting a RevGal pedi in the chair next to Songbird was a treat!

  8. Can’t even hazard a guess on colors — Just to show how ignorant I am I’ve never even heard of OPI. I am totally a non-makeup person except for a VERY occasional slash of lipstick!
    Your trip sounds wonderful.

  9. The toes on the right look like OPI’s Berry Brilliant, the ones on the left seem to be in the Pretty Plum-tuous tones, but looks a bit iridescent, so I’m probably wrong.
My 4-year old niece was thrilled that I got two identical holiday OPI kits and gave one of them to her.

  11. Oh, I’m so happy for you! It sounds like you’re having a great time.
How can I not guess “It’s a Doozi, says Suzi” for the left foot? Really. It looks close enough, and I love the name (naturally).
I’m going to go with “Cajun Shrimp” for the right foot.
Please do give the kittehs and Sister extra cookies for me.

  13. In your honors I had a pedi today, and, as always, forgot to note the OPI polish color. It had a long name. I guess that’s no help.
