At this festive season of the year, I have a lot of deep thoughts in the midst of the errands, planning, baking, usual tasks of home and church, and all the extra requirements of Advent and Christmas, but bringing them into focus requires supernatural intervention.
It requires the Spirit.
And most often, at this time of year, I find the Spirit speaks through music. I listen to a LOT of music, and it never fails that the right song
plays at the moment I need to hear it, or creeps into my mind when I am
not sure what's next in this busy season.
I'm not sure why Sufjan Stevens included this hymn on his Christmas CDs, except that I know exactly why he did. Enjoy it, and I'll see you after the Holly Jolly Fair.
That’s my very favorite song from that CD set.

Songbird. That’s one of my favorite hymns. I guess it’s because I can identify with the words, “Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love. Here’s my heart O take and seal it…”
Blessings.
