Bearnaise Sauce Dogs, Children, Photos

At the last possible moment, we took 33 pictures of kids and dogs this afternoon before #1 Son and Dos said farewell. My parents always used pictures of my brother and me on Christmas cards, and I have followed in their footsteps, mostly.

But in adding animals, I face special challenges.

Three people and two dogs will not all behave at the same time.

Headshot potential

We all have those moments when the camera flashes and we close our eyes or do something else
less than attractive, or some funny, despite our best efforts to pose respectably.

Pucker up!

We cannot, in fact, all behave at the same time, even when most of us have a will to do so.

Let me rest, please
We may grow tired of the whole process.

All we want to do is rest.

We may be unamused by the jokes and whistles the grown-ups cast in our direction to get our attention.

We may not have wanted to do this in the first place.

Will This Ever Be Over, or What's Over There

But if a mother perseveres, she may be pleased in the end.

  1. That was enjoyable. I especially liked the yawns…
My dad’s rule of thumb was ten snaps for every person to get one passable one. 🙂

  2. Oh sweetie…I love you all SO much. That is a fabulous series…thank you for sharing it with us xxxx

  3. The doggie yawning and Sam staring are just hilarious. They were just perfect.
That last pic is so beautiful. You have such a lovely family!

  4. zomg, Sam and Snowman are about the funniest thing I’ve seen all week. And I think the final shot turned out gorgeously.

  5. This was so, so great. Makes me wish I’d had something other than my blurry cellphone on Thanskgiving!

  6. Love the photos! OT–also loved “Jesus for President” by Shane Claiborne and “Home” by Julie Andrews! Great list of reads for the year!
