Sprung Ahead

Sprung ahead like an elastic band airplane and feeling as fragile as balsa wood, I give thanks that:

  • although Vacationland Public Radio has apparently been knocked out by the wind this morning, I woke up anyway;
  • even though I can’t remember how to reset the thermostat timer it does have a manual override;
  • despite the fact he’s wearing a cast for his boxer’s fracture, #1 Son got home safely;
  • although The Princess knows a great deal more than I do, apparently she is just as superior to her father as she is to me;
  • even though she feels sensitive about having won the heart of Guitar Boy when his best friend still likes her, I get the advantage of having them compete to perform feats of strength at my house such as carrying in giant bags of dog food from the car;
  • despite the fact that I am having back pain and hand numbness, I managed to do several hours of knitting last night and the end of one of my two unfinished projects (mittens for The Princess to match her Gryffindor scarf) is in sight;
  • and although it is windy this morning, as reported above, the sun is coming up over the horizon, and I have a feeling that someday it really will be spring and most of all, Pure Luck will be home tomorrow night. (Expect me to mention that again tomorrow.)

Are you thankful for anything as we spring ahead?

  1. I am so thankful for so many things! One thing I am thankful for is that we have had plenty of good rain, so desperately needed!
    Think I need to go do a bullet list over at my blog.

  2. I am thankful that you share your gift of writing with us, Songbird.
    I’m thankful for my adorable almost-10-month-old granddaughter, who is already cruising from furniture piece to furniture piece and has the most kissable round cheeks.
    I’m thankful for my sons, 6 and 13, who melt my heart when they come up out of nowhere and hug me.
    I’m thankful for my almost-25-year-old daughter, who is a confident woman and has become a confident, wonderful mother.
    I’m thankful for my husband’s silly jokes and sweet, bearded face and his being self-employed like I am, because now I see much more of him.
    I’m thankful for my two kitties, who sit on my paperwork or meow at me until I pet them thoroughly.
    I’m thankful for my in-laws, who live with us and do lots of errands and some child care for us, making workdays a lot easier for us.
    I am pouting, though, that everyone else seems to have gotten a lot of snow lately, but we haven’t gotten enough this winter. My boys wanted lots more sledding and snowboarding opportunities!

  3. You know that I love #4. And it is comforting to know that your child’s frosty contempt is not directed solely at you.

  4. I’m thankful for my blog friends, and that I’m going to be with you so soon now.
    I’m thankful for the 58 baptisms I’ve conducted while at St M’s, of which the last was an hour ago
    I’m thankful that all the stress of moving is inevitably finite, that in 4 weeks today I will be licenced at the new parish, and can get on with the rest of my life
    (but oh, I do wish leaving here were easier!)

  5. So much to be thankful for in the Songbird house. :c) I am thankful I didn’t have to work this weekend, and that I was able to walk into my “home” church today after 2 1/2 years away and feel as if I’d never left due to the many smiles and hugs I received.

  6. hee hee on the wisdom of The Princess.
    I’m thankful that my parents were here for the weekend and I got to take three naps while they babysat.
