A Conversation Between Middle-Aged Married People Who Have No Children of Their Own

She: I really need to start my Christmas shopping.

(bends over to pet dog)

Sam is worried about the Christmas shopping. He’s afraid there may not be Christmas presents.

(to the dog, in goofy voice) Aren’t you, Sam? But don’t you worry, there will be lots of presents, I promise.

Dog: (Looks at her with big brown eyes holding the same expression they always do.)

She: (continues in goofy voice) Sam is worried because he heard that Santa Paws may not be coming. He heard there’s a strike of the Reindeer’s Guild. Didn’t you, Sam?

He: So it might be called on account of reindeer?

Dog: (sighs and lays his head down)

  1. hee hee…my dogs would be very sad too…they really look forward to opening their presents, which they can do all by themselves (and ours too, if we let them)…

  2. cats are supposed to be aloof, you know? but they think christmas is all about the wrappings and ribbons festooned upon the floor, just for them. they make out like bandits every year!
