Don't Let's Call It a Diet

My New Best Friend

I would like to introduce you to my new best friend: Fat Free Cottage Cheese.

I ran it through the food processor to diminish the curds, then added dill seasonings from a nearby Shaker community. I was thinking of it as dip, but this morning I realized it would also make pretty decent salad dressing. I packed a lunch to bring to work, no small achievement since I am still figuring out Weight Watcher’s Core Plan. I made a salad with some leftover broiled chicken, and brought along a little container of the dip. I am having it on the side and dipping my fork into it. Amazingly, it tastes pretty good.

Of course, as Pure Luck likes to say, "Hunger is the best sauce."

Two glasses of water down, and four to go.

How goes it for you on this Monday?

  1. FF Cottage cheese is one of my favorites, too–although I tend to eat it with chunks of pineapple, or with slices of tomato. Of course, i don’t like salads, so that does cut into my desire to eat it with salads. I’m very impressed with your commitment. I keep hoping it will rub off on me.

  2. You’re getting creative with flavor. This is great! I myself have found some amazingly tasty treats compatible with the WW program on hungry girl.
My favorite quick lunch: turkey pepperoni toasted on a WW English muffin with a little spaghetti sauce and lowfat mozzarella.
Today for me: can’t get my mojo started. Too tired from the weekend. And my acid reflux is wreaking havoc with my throat again. I think I’m trying to avoid chores and work. Longing for a nap.

  3. mmm mmm good.
I’m drinking some strawberry watermelon thing that is supposed to wake me up, but which is probably empty calories.
Having a hard time getting going today.
    Looking forward to vacation.
    worried about budget

  4. One part FF cottage cheese plus one part FF plain yogurt, blended THOROUGHLY in the blender, makes a very acceptable sour cream substitute.

  5. My Monday has been good and busy and Bible Study to go tonight. I have been left concerned that my choice of words yesterday in response to your sermon was *AWFUL*–our endings were very similar, not yours a paraphrase of mine. Hope I didn’t offend and hope your day has smiled on you.

  6. Oh, Rosa, I didn’t take it that way at all! I’ve had your blog open all day waiting for enough time to read your sermon, too. But it has been one of those non-stop days.

  7. Cathy, I haven’t done flex, because it’s been a million years since I did WW, back in the days of so many servings a day of this and that. My old friend, who weighed me in the other day, advised that Core Plan was more lifestyle-friendly, in the sense that you can use it to learn portion control and a way to eat forever instead of counting things for a while and quitting when you reach a certain point. I’m certainly getting a portion education these first few days!

  8. Our state legislature is finally finished for the year — I got home after 3AM on Sunday morning. Ugh. So I took the day off today! Ran errands, tidied house, spoke on the phone to my sister and an old friend, made a vegetable stew for dinner, and ate on the porch with my family. All in all, a good day. Thanks for asking 🙂

  9. I’m doing the flex plan. It’s easier for me to stay accountable to numbers. And a couple years ago, I had to count carbs for one of my diabetic clients, so it’s actually easier for me than eating only the core plan foods. I normally eat a fair bit of fruits/veggies anway, so that’s not an issue for me…it’s the snacking that often gets me in trouble! I love using FF cottage cheese for a dip. I often add Pampered Chef seasonings, the Rosemary Herb is my favorite. I blend that with FF cream cheese for spreads on sandwiches or wraps too.
