Is that where you get in your car to go visit someone and then decide to just turn around?

Oh I know all about that one PPB. BUt never heard the term otherwise. It does sound like a “healing from your sin” type of ministry though. Which could be very appropriate or very abusive I guess…

I think it’s a concept having to do with revitalizing congregations that are in a downturn, but specifically I’m interested in what a “turnaround minister” might be as opposed to an “interim minister.”
I’m also interested in jokes, of course. 🙂

I don’t know either, but “turnaround” makes me want to sing “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”
The big buzzword in our denomination is “transformation.” Sounds similar though.

I read a book once called “Turnaround Strategies for the small church” or something like that. Maybe that’s what it is?

My guess would be that a “Turnaround minister” would be there for as long as it takes for the vision for that church to become a reality. I’d presume it would be a proper appointment, with no specific end date in view…..We don’t have the concept of “interim ministers” here, so I’m not totally sure (but it sounds as if they are people who hold the fort between one appointment and the next…whereas we just make do with an endless succession of retired clergy at such times. When I was a bookseller, back in the mists of time, a bestselling business title was “How to manage a turnaround”…and it was very much concerned with a kind of flying squad of managers who descended on ailing companies and rejigged everything until they were once more happy, healthy and viable. Any help??
